This is a seldom seen Lift-A-Load trailer by Lifetime Trailers in Kewanee, IL. Model EPT4-715L. Built in 2002, it spent its entire life in a large government facility who used it to move material and equipment from building-to-building, never going on the highway until I acquired it. Since it lived outside here in the southwest, the paint is some faded and oxidized. It should shine up with some Nu-finish if you want to spend the time, or some fresh paint if you need it to look pretty.
This type of trailer is used mostly to move forklifts, manlifts, pallets, and roller machines.
This is the ONLY trailer that can be lowered to the ground, loaded, and raised to either running height, or to dock height (max platform height is about 52 inches). Nothing else can do this. Please see the last picture which has all the specs.
This is the largest Lift-a-Load made, weighs 6800 lb. unloaded, has a GVWR of 21160, and a maximum payload capacity of 15,000 pounds.
The deck is fairly narrow at 62” wide by 15 ft long and has a winch to raise and lower the back ramp. It has 1” D rings in the deck for tying down equipment.
These trailers are built-to-order and cost over $40,000 new, so you don’t see many of them. This particular trailer was ordered with the side rail option which is easily removed with a few bolts, and the 8000 lb winch. It also has the onboard power option (12V battery) which operates the hydraulics and winch.
The tires are Bridgestone 215/75R 17.5 Load Range H and have plenty of tread remaining. The tires do have some minor sidewall cracking from the sun here in the southwest. I can’t find a tire date anywhere.
I rewired the trailer electrical for a 7 way plug for my truck, added a 175A Anderson connector for direct battery charging, and replaced the entire safety breakaway system. I also replaced the caps on the dexter axles and replaced the axle oil. I ran it 350 miles on the highway at 75 mph. It trails extremely nicely with no issues.
In some of the photos, you can see me using the trailer recently to load, lift, and transfer a dead forklift weighing almost 12,000 lb on to my buddy’s flatbed trailer. Hydraulics work perfectly with no cylinder leaks.
With the exception of one of the little red round back center running lights, all lights work properly (I’ll have to look at that one pesky light). The onboard battery holds a good charge and the safety breakaway battery is new.
The title is clear in my name and it is currently registered in New Mexico. This is a local pickup only and you’ll need at least a 3/4 ton truck (2500) with a pintle hitch. The trailer needs nothing to immediately go to work.
