What You'll Do
• Support the Operations Manager in planning and coordinating daily liquid repacking activities, schedules, and priorities.
Supervise liquid repacking, including safe receiving of liquid sugar/corn syrup tankers, product transfer, filtration, IBC/tote filling, weighing, labeling, and shipment preparation.
• Operate tote filling equipment and ensure all repacking is performed according to established SOPs, product specifications, and customer requirements.
• Oversee the setup, sanitation, inspection, and daily checks of totes, pumps, hoses, filters, scales, transfer equipment, and forklifts, and arrange for maintenance and repairs when required.
• Monitor filling quantities, lot identification, product losses, and repacking efficiency.
• Investigate equipment issues, product discrepancies, and process deviations, and coordinate corrective actions with the Operations Manager and Quality Assurance Manager and contractors.
Identify opportunities to improve repacking methods, material flow, product recovery, and loss prevention, and recommend improvements to the Operations Manager.
• Coordinate activities with contractors, service providers, and other departments for equipment maintenance, installations, and facility projects.
• Supervise, assign, and review the work of warehouse and repacking employees, including shipping and receiving documents, inventory transactions, and repacking records, to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on time.
• Assist the Operations Manager with daily work assignments, shift scheduling, and staffing coverage.
• Enforce adherence to SOPs, GMPs, and safety rules, and provide training and feedback.
• Lead onboarding and training of warehouse and repacking employees, providing feedback, and recommending improvement plans, and escalating employee concerns as required.
• Supervise receiving, put-away, storage, picking, staging, loading, and shipping activities.
• Maintain accurate inventory through WMS/ERP transactions, cycle counts, reconciliations, lot/batch control, and expiry monitoring.
• Take operational ownership of the WMS, train employees on WMS/ERP procedures, and work with WMS/ERP teams to resolve issues and ensure system records match physical operations.
• Oversee the processing of customer returns, including receiving, inspection, segregation, documentation, and WMS/ERP entry, and review and approve customer credits or replacements as required.
• Support the Operations Manager in planning warehouse layout, storage capacity, material flow, and forklift and equipment requirements.
• Order and requisition operating supplies and materials such as totes, filters, hoses, labels, packaging, and sanitation products, and track stock levels to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Ensure employees follow company policies, workplace safety and security procedures, and applicable regulations, and assist with workplace inspections and health and safety compliance.
• Provide the Operations Manager with regular operational updates, reports, and analysis, and participate in management meetings.
• Support the Quality Assurance Manager in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the HACCP plan in accordance with HACCP principles, GMPs, and CFIA requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and establish controls to prevent food safety hazards in storage and distribution.
• Monitor and verify food safety and quality controls through inspections, testing, and 3rd party/customer/CFIA audits.
• Take samples from each load, assist with preparing Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and maintain accurate batch records and lot traceability.
• Work with the Quality Assurance Manager to determine the disposition of returned products and track return trends to reduce future returns.
• Coordinate with internal and external suppliers and customers to ensure HACCP and food safety compliance, including allergen control, supplier documentation, and product specifications.
• Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in investigating food safety incidents, non-conformances, deviations, and customer complaints; conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain HACCP records, including monitoring logs, verification records, policies, procedures, and audit reports, and support internal, external, and regulatory audits.
• Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in developing, reviewing, and standardizing SOPs, work instructions, checklists, and forms.
• Promote a strong Food Safety Culture by training and coaching employees on food safety, HACCP, GMPs, and operating procedures.
• Work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and act as backup HACCP team member after completing training:
• Participate in HACCP team activities and plan reviews.
• Support monitoring of critical control points (CCPs), documentation, and verification activities.
• Stay current on food safety regulations and industry best practices and participate in training and development opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Quality Assurance Manager.
