Nicely inlaid purfling
Purfling on a cello is a decorative, protective inlaid strip of wood, typically a three-ply black-white-black band, around the edges of the top and back plates. It serves a dual purpose: aesthetically, it enhances the instrument's beauty by outlining its shape, and practically, it reinforces the edges and helps prevent cracks from spreading into the instrument's plates.
