American Motors brand new, reproduction 1970-76 Inner Clutch Z Bar Bracket - for Javelin, AMX, Rebel Machine, Rebel, Matador, and Ambassador. This is the bracket that attaches to the bell housing and acts as a pivot point for the z bar. (see last photo for location). The bracket was reverse engineered from an original, NOS bracket and verified against a quality used bracket.
Made in the USA. Blue printed, designed, assembled and welded in the USA.
- Pivot cup was CNC machined, so each one is identical with regards to dimensions.
- Holes were reamed in order to provide a nice press fit for the cup.
- The cup was then tack welded as a safety, to keep it from coming loose. The originals were "staked" and can be easily removed with a few taps from a hammer.
- Each bracket has been zinc plated for extra corrosion protection.
- There is an extra hole on the front, which was used for the six cylinder cars. The hole was kept in the design, so the reproduction is as close to OEM as possible.
This bracket is correct for the following vehicles:
1970 Rebel, Rebel Machine, Javelin and AMX with a V8
1971 Matador, Javelin, Javelin AMX with a V8
1972-74 Javelin and Javelin AMX
1974 Matador (6 cylinder and a 3 speed transmission)
75-76 Matador, Ambassador
