We are recruiting for a Material Handler II to support material handling, scrap collection, processing, housekeeping, and safe disposal activities within a specialized industrial facility. This position is responsible for accurately weighing and documenting scrap materials, maintaining designated processing areas, and safely handling materials pending disposal. The successful candidate will work closely with production and operations personnel and must be comfortable working in an industrial environment where safety, environmental compliance, accuracy, and housekeeping are priorities.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate industrial grinders and shredders as trained and authorized.
• Maintain assigned processing and material-handling areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Collect and stage scrap materials from designated facility areas for processing.
• Prepare and organize cardboard and other approved inert materials for processing.
• Operate power-washing equipment and clean equipment and work surfaces as needed.
• Ensure proper identification and labeling of collected scrap materials and containers.
• Accurately weigh and document applicable scrap and disposal materials.
• Follow applicable work instructions, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), safety requirements, and environmental procedures.
• Safely handle and stage materials pending disposal.
• Participate in cross-training and support other operational areas as business needs require.
• Maintain high standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required as part of the pre-employment process.
• Pre-employment drug screening required.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in basic English.
• Basic math skills.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain/maintain required certification.
• Hazardous-material first responder certification, as required.
• Training/certification in applicable areas such as power washing, confined space, and lockout/blockout.
• Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and materials.
• Dependable, responsible, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively with others.
Experience in one or more of the following is helpful
• Material handling
• Industrial production
• Scrap/recycling operations
• Waste or materials processing
• Forklift operation
• Industrial housekeeping
• Environmental or safety-related operations
Work Environment
This is an active industrial position involving material handling, equipment operation, outdoor/indoor work, lifting, cleaning, and exposure to industrial materials and equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment and safety procedures will be required.
