Meet my herd of Nubian/Alpines. I have put blood, sweat, and time into this herd and I’m very proud of it.
Unfortunately, they have one major flaw . . . . . they have the Nubian bellow, the kind that makes you wonder if you are raising dinosaurs or goats?
With neighbors close on every side, I’ve had to make the decision to switch to a quieter breed.
These goats are grass-fed, and I mean 100% grass fed exclusively, moved in a daily rotation across the pasture.
Other than one doe that would be better suited for a more conventional system, this is one solid herd, no dewormers, just shiny coats and fresh grass.
All does and doelings have been exposed to a buck.
Buy the whole herd for $750 cash: two adult does, two doelings born this spring.
Or buy separately:
Black spotted doe $325
Tan doe with black patch $100
Copper colored doeling $200
Brown with white spot $200
Cash only please.
Here are the details:
The black spotted doe,
Finale was born in 2022.
She is 3/4 Nubian and 1/4 Alpine.
Disbudded.
Has been 100% grass-fed for the past four years and has not need to be dewormed since.
She was accidentally bred during her first year and delivered a stillborn kid. Has kidded twice since then without any assistance necessary and has been an excellent mother.
She possesses every virtue I would wish to keep in my herd, unfortunately she constantly jumps my four strand electric fence. We have woven wire cattle fencing as a perimeter and she has never challenged that.
$300
Tan with black patch.
Cordelia is Nubian Alpine mix or a "Nupine" roughly 5 years old.
She delivered a buckling and a doeling this spring and is a wonderful mother.
Very sweet and loves attention!
She is trained to a four strand electric fence.
I bought her hoping she would add to my diary stock, but sadly I think she would do better as grain fed goat. With some extra calories she should be a good dairy goat.
$100
Copper colored doeling.
Fanny is the daughter of the black spotted doe listed here.
She is 1/8 Alpine and the rest Nubian.
Born 1-18-26
Well handled with a sweet disposition.
Has never needed to be dewormed.
Trained to a four strand electric fence.
$200
Brown and white doeling.
Miss Bennet is the daughter of the tan and black spotted doe listed here.
A Nubian/ Alpine mix.
Born 4-10-26.
She will let you pet her, but is a little shy. She was well handled as a kid and would warm up quickly.
