Tractor has a 30 HP engine power with a 540 working PTO and a functional 3-point rear hitch.
It is a gear drive transmission with 2-wheel drive power. It has 13.6 – 28 rear tires in good shape (~ 40% wear) and 6.00 – 16SL front tires with one new right front and the left in good shape (~ 50% wear).
The starting system has been converted from the original 6V to a 12V system which is a huge difference in starting these 8Ns. The original steel seat has been changed over to a super-nice comfy, cushioned vinyl seat. Front headlights and rear taillights all work.
A convenient on-board tool-box is bolted to the fender to provide nice roomy storage for tools and other spare tractor & implement fixtures. A 3-yr battery was installed in June of ’24 so still has some good life. I am including a nice-heavy tractor weight attached to the front grill to provide extra traction and ballast for heavy projects (easily removed). Has a sturdy spinneret on steering wheel to make steering a breeze. I am also including a very handy I&T Shop Service manual (FO-4) for all Series 2N, 8N, and 9N tractors.
Rear hydraulics leak a bit but doesn’t require very frequent refill. Have had problems with rear brake seals leaking in the past, so braking is a bit of a challenge when hauling heavy loads. Otherwise, the tractor is fully functional, starts and runs great. It’s been a reliable, steady companion that just “keeps on keepin’ on” for years.
