Hi everyone,
My family and I are hoping to welcome an African Grey parrot into our home, and I thought I would post here in case someone is facing the difficult decision of needing to rehome theirs.
We have previous experience owning and caring for an African Grey. The photos in this ad are of our previous Grey, who was very much loved and part of our family.
At that time, we were living in a small townhouse and unfortunately our living situation wasn't ideal for keeping him long-term. Our circumstances are very different today.
We now own a large family home in Chilliwack with a big main living area where a Grey would be able to spend their days right in the middle of family life. We have three boys and a busy household, so there is usually someone around to provide interaction, attention and companionship.
We understand African Greys are extremely intelligent and sensitive birds. They need patience, routine, stimulation and, most importantly, time to build trust with their people.
We're not looking specifically for a baby. I would absolutely consider an older African Grey, including one that may need some patience while adjusting to a new home. What matters most to us is finding the right bird for our family.
If your circumstances have changed and you're considering rehoming your African Grey, please feel free to reach out. I understand how difficult that decision can be, and I'm happy to tell you more about our family, our home and my previous experience.
I'm also happy to meet the bird several times if necessary so that both you and the bird can be comfortable with the transition.
We are located in Chilliwack, BC, but I'm willing to travel within BC for the right Grey.
Please send me a message if you have an African Grey needing a loving, experienced and permanent home.
