Vintage LYCOMING MARINE Engine, vintage 1954.
This engine was originally purchased as an insurance salvage in Colorado. Apparently, the boat sank in a freshwater lake in Colorado.
The boat was a total loss, but the engine was inspected and cleaned internally and had very low running time. Having been inspected and filled with fresh oil, it was started in an automotive machine shop in Durango, Colorado using a freshwater hose for cooling. It was stored and moved many times over the years and ended up in California. During those moves, oil was inserted in the combustion chambers and rolled over. While being moved the carburetor was misplaced and ignition wires were removed.
Engine is complete with original forward and reverse Lycoming transmission.
No doubt this engine would start and run, with some external work and replacement. It powered the original CRESCRAFT wooden boat. Today this original engine is a vintage collectable, because these original wooden boats are being restored and bring extremely high prices from collectors.
