Why do you need a Sway Control Hitch? Trailer sway control hitches are used to prevent dangerous side-to-side fishtailing and keep the tow vehicle and trailer moving safely in a straight line. When a trailer begins to sway, it acts like a pendulum behind the tow vehicle. Without intervention, this lateral movement can rapidly amplify, pulling the tow vehicle off-course and potentially causing a catastrophic rollover or jackknife accident. A sway control hitch prevents this by providing physical resistance to stop or dampen these movements before they spin out of control.
