Drexel Furniture began in 1903 in Drexel, North Carolina. The company’s “Golden Era” began in the early 1950s and grew rapidly after acquiring smaller, regional competitors. It became a powerhouse in mid-century furniture designs.
These three brochures/catalogs are from that era.
The Biscayne line was advertised on the cover as being “new”. Because that particular line of furniture came out in 1955, it’s safe to assume that 1955 is the year of these brochures.
All three are identical.
Two of them are stamped “Scott-Shuptine” of Detroit.
The catalogs open up to 9 1/4 x 13 inches. The inside shows more than 50 pieces of Drexel Furniture available.
One of the catalogs has writing (measurements) next to a set of chairs, a table, a sleep sofa, and a buffet.
On the back of one of the catalogs are prices written down and added up.
The other two have no writing.
All three have some very slight folds.
The brochures/catalogs are a great look at some of the famous furniture designs of the 1950s.
