This elevated deck was reported by neighbors to the local Code Enforcement office - as constructed by an unlicensed handyman without the required building permit or county inspections.
After the work was completed, the building inspector discovered serious construction defects.
The original handyman would not return to correct the problems—leaving the homeowner with an unsafe, noncompliant deck and the responsibility of getting the project properly repaired.

A licensed structural engineer evaluated the existing deck and prepared a detailed, sealed reinforcement plan identifying the structural deficiencies and required corrections.

The project was brought into the proper permitting and inspection process, so the repairs could be reviewed for compliance by the appropriate local authorities.

• Do not allow structural work to be covered before inspection
