Jonathan Stewart is a former professional football player who played as a running back in the National Football League (NFL). Born on March 21, 1987, in Fort Lewis, Washington, he played college football at the University of Oregon, where he earned first-team All-American honors in 2007. That season, he set Oregon’s single-season rushing record (1,722 yards) and all-purpose yards record (2,481 yards), which still stands. He finished his college career as the second-leading rusher in Oregon history (2,891 yards) and third in all-purpose yards (4,889 yards), with only five fumbles in 623 career touches.

Stewart was selected 13th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers, where he played for 10 seasons (2008–2017). He became the Carolina Panthers’ all-time leading rusher with 7,318 career rushing yards and was named to the 2016 Pro Bowl. He also played one season with the New York Giants in 2018 before retiring.

After his playing career, Stewart signed a one-day contract with the Panthers to officially retire as a member of the team. He is recognized for his power, durability, and versatility, combining strong rushing, receiving, and return abilities throughout his career.
