Please Note: This original vintage signed and dated John Seabern watercolor painting is mounted in an older wooden frame with triple matte board and glass front. The large sheet of glass covering this watercolor painting appears to be what is called Tru Vue Museum Glass, which provides 99% UV protection with an anti-reflective coating to create a clear, durable, and easy-to-clean surface.
Dimensions: The watercolor painting itself that can be viewed within the matte board measures approximately nineteen inches (19”) in height by twenty three inches (23”) in width but is most likely larger as it extends underneath the matte board. The overall dimensions of the wood frame are approximately twenty eight and one half inches (28 1/2”) in height by thirty two and one quarter inches (32 1/4”) in width.
Signature: Signed and dated with red paint in the bottom right corner “John Seabern 1964”
Condition: The watercolor painting itself looks to be in excellent and clean condition – absolutely beautiful! However, and please note, the watercolor painting has not been removed from the frame for a thorough examination. The triple matte board and glass front are also in excellent and clean condition. And the older wooden frame is generally in very good and clean condition with several scuffs and small nicks here and there. Lastly, the frame’s paper backing, while mostly intact, does have a number of tears and splits.
Price: $250.00 (firm and cash only)

Biographical Note About John Seabern
Although very little information can be located about John Seabern’s activities as an artist at the time of this writing, the website for Family Search verifies that he lived both in California and Hawaii. His birth and death dates are also provided on this website.
In addition, there is some type of strong connection between John Seabern and the artist Arthur Beaumont. Both Seabern and Beaumont were contemporaries, both worked in watercolors, and both created a body of work celebrating the accomplishments of the U.S. Navy. In addition, their styles were strikingly similar and they both signed their work in red.
In fact, John Seabern gifted an Arthur Beaumont watercolor painting titled “Death of an Ignoble Enemy” from 1946 to the Bowers Museum of Santa Ana, California. This painting was showcased in the exhibition “Arthur Beaumont: Art of the Sea” organized by the Bowers Museum in 2019 (which can still be viewed online).
Lastly, another watercolor painting by John Seabern can still be viewed online at the website for Worthpoint. Painted in 1955, it shows the USS Henderson 785 Navy Military War Destroyer.
