I’m looking to pick up a bit of extra casual work here and there, and thought I’d put myself out there rather than take on another formal job.
A little about me: I’m a woman in my early 30s and work casually in mental health care with Island Health. I really value having control over my schedule, so I’m looking for odd jobs, occasional help, or ongoing arrangements that can stay fairly flexible.
I’m capable, reliable, personable, and comfortable with all kinds of people. I’m also one of those people who has accumulated a strangely broad collection of practical skills over the years.
Some things I’d be happy to help with:
• Respite, companionship, or practical support for adults/seniors
• House sitting and pet sitting
• Cleaning, organizing, decluttering, and helping tackle the room/cupboard/garage you’ve been avoiding
• Errands, grocery shopping, appointments, or general life-admin help
• Packing/unpacking or helping someone prepare for a move
• Gardening and basic outdoor work
• Meal prep
• Childcare
• Tutoring, writing, editing, computer help, and paperwork
• Helping with projects where you mostly just need another competent set of hands
I have a BA in Social Sciences and professional experience supporting people with mental-health and other complex needs. I’m comfortable in situations that require patience, good judgment, discretion, and a sense of humour.
I’m not looking to replace my current job or fill my entire week. I’m mostly hoping to connect with a few people locally who occasionally think, “I could really use some help with this.”
If you have something that isn’t on this list, feel free to ask. Tell me a little about what you need, where you are in the Valley, approximately how many hours you’re looking for, and what you’re hoping to pay.
Happy to chat first and see if it feels like a good fit for both of us. :)
