Most present day bandsaws are fabricated steel. After around 1930 this cast iron frame style became the norm until maybe 2000, but it is still manufactured/sold by Powermatic and others. This Delta was manufactured in 1982.
I have used it for the past 7 years and updated it to current bandsaw standards by adding a Carter blade tensioner and ball bearing blade guides, Kreg fence for rip and resawing, and a modern switch with new, heavy duty wiring.
The pictured blade is 3/4" woodmiser. There are also 1/2" woodmiser blades and 3/16" scrollsaw blades. Included is a 1/2" carbide tipped blade - expensive but lasts 4x as long. Original motor is 1HP, 110/220. Resaw capacity is 12".
I made a plywood rollaround cart for it as seen in the photos but I have the original stationary stand as well as the original replaced parts - blade guides and guard, etc.
If you have a shop but no bandsaw, let's say you need this, you just don't know it. If you have a small bandsaw, you probably already know you need this.
You can view the Alex Snodgrass videos on upgrading Delta bandsaws. It has been fun finding this old saw and bringing it up to date. I have used it plenty and it will last into the next century. (Not as shiney or colorful as a new Ricon...but you will save $1000 )
