I've seen the same story play out thousands of times on Craigslist. Businesses and individuals looking for loans, lines of credit, merchant cash advances, investment capital, and other forms of funding, only to be declined over one or two inconsistencies that fall outside conventional lending criteria.
It's an interesting system, isn't it? You can have an idea, a business, or an opportunity worth pursuing, yet find yourself shut out because you don't fit neatly into someone else's financial guidelines.
That's where my approach differs.
I'm an investor of a different sort. Not a lender. Not a broker. And certainly not someone who's going to ask you for a twenty-page business plan before deciding whether you're worth a conversation.
My criterion is rather simple: my capital in exchange for your influence.
Most investors want to know what you're building, how it operates, how profitable it might become, and whether your projections justify the risk. I look at things differently. I'm interested in the influence you already possess, not necessarily the business model you intend to pursue or what you plan to do with the capital.
Why? Because my investment returns are structured around that influence, rather than the conventional success-or-failure metrics that typically govern an investment. The arrangement is intended to be settled in conjunction with the delivery of your requested capital, subject to mutually agreed terms.
I'm not here to tell you how to run your business, convince you to adopt my vision, or scrutinize every detail of your plans. What you intend to do with your funding is your business. My interest lies elsewhere.
So, if you've been searching for capital and repeatedly running into the same institutional roadblocks, perhaps a different conversation is worth having.
If you believe you have the influence I'm looking for, feel free to contact me with a brief introduction and your funding requirements. No dissertation. No elaborate financial projections. Just a straightforward conversation about what you bring to the table and whether there's a fit.
Sometimes, the most important question isn't how much capital you need. It's what you bring to the table that capital alone cannot buy.
