We have a bedroom available in our shared, seven-bedroom house in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The room is available November 15 (possibly earlier). We are looking for an individual who doesn't smoke or have pets.
Our house is a beautiful 19th-century brownstone, with much of the original detail work intact. We are in the heart of Park Slope, near the Park Slope Food Coop and commercial amenities on 7th and on 5th Avenues. The house has lots of common space--a well-equipped large kitchen, a living room, a large parlor, two full bathrooms, one partial bathroom, and a garden in the back. We have a washer and dryer, cable TV, and internet access. The house is near major subway lines. The 2/3 and B/Q trains are close by, and the R train is a few blocks away.
There are seven of us who rent the house. In addition to you, new housemate, we are three women, two men, and one non-binary person (who range in age from 29 to 62). The house has two high school teachers, a graphic designer, a university administrator, a human resources officer at a nonprofit, and an urban farmer. We buy food as a group at the Park Slope Food Coop, and we share in household responsibilities. Sometimes we cook meals together. We often hang out in the kitchen in the evening over a glass of wine or a cup of tea. We love living in the house, and we're confident you will too.
The room is on the small side — 6 feet by 11 feet. It has a small closet. It faces west. Rent is $950 per month, which includes all utilities, including internet access. The room is unfurnished. Previous residents have had a loft bed in the room. The room does not currently have the loft, but we have the wood and the hardware, and it can be rebuilt. (Photos show the room both with and without the loft bed). The room is ideal for someone who doesn't have a lot of stuff.
If you are interested, we will have an open house on Friday, October 2, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This will provide you with an opportunity to see the room and a chance for us to meet you and for you to meet us. The room is available November 15 (possibly earlier). If interested or if you have questions, please email us.
