Hello! I'm looking for a roommate to join me in my beautiful 2 BR Park Slope apartment. It's on the top floor of a four-story walk up, has tons of natural light via two skylights in the common area and is a short walk from shops, bars, a million restaurants, and pretty much every subway line that exists. The apartment features a dishwasher, in-unit washer/dryer, central a/c, a large open-plan common area, and a walk-in storage closet.
The bedroom is the bigger of the two, 14’x12', with a closet and three bay windows facing the street. The room is unfurnished and would be available for immediate move in.
I’ve lived in this apartment since 2012 and I’m the leaseholder. You would be subletting from me, but I want my roommate to feel that this is their home as well. The common area is pretty much fully furnished, but there is space to add your books/dishes/kitchen tools/etc, and plenty of room in the storage closet.
Rent is $2300/month plus utilities (electricity, gas, and internet, which averages out to $150 per person per month). You would need security and the month's rent to take the room. I pay a bit less than my roommate to account for the added liability as leaseholder and taking the smaller room, but if the rent increases, we would split that equally. We also pay to service the a/c once a year.
A little about me: I'm a woman in my early 40s and love film, cooking, and frequenting the nearby Center for Fiction. I also volunteer tending chickens in the community garden across the street, which has become a great source of friends over the years. I work for a non-profit and go into the office about once a week, but primarily work from home. You would also be sharing the apartment with my two very friendly cats, Lottie and Tilly, who love playing fetch and snuggling with anyone who has an available lap.
I’m an introvert and live well with someone who similarly recharges through quiet time at home. I describe myself as “cluttered, not dirty,” but try to keep the common space clean, and live best with people who have similar habits. I’m also open to splitting the cost of a cleaner once a month or so if that’s in your budget.
Ideally, you are cat-friendly and enjoy living in a laid-back, social household (i.e., up for a movie night, grabbing a drink or sharing a meal together now and again). If that sounds like you, please get in touch!
