I am building an off grid cabin in PA. I am siding it with scrap deck material. Surface condition, stain, paint. doesn't matter as I will flip the boards. 1" and 3/4 " are fine. The whole cabin is reclaimed wood so I don't mind pulling nails and screws or removing bolts.
