Universal Cellular Inc. has been buying, testing, grading, and selling used and refurbished phones, tablets, laptops, and smartwatches out of Brooklyn since 2014. We supply wholesalers and retailers worldwide and sell direct to customers on Amazon. Every device goes through a 60-point inspection and is backed by a 30-day warranty. We're a team of 26, and now we're taking the business on camera.
THE ROLE
We're launching two things at once: a Whatnot channel where we sell devices live, and a daily short-form video presence on TikTok and Instagram. We're hiring one person to own both.
You'll be the face and voice of Universal Cellular on camera, with a warehouse of thousands of devices as your set. You don't need years of professional hosting experience. What matters is that you're natural on camera, you can sell, and you can make a video people actually watch.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Live selling on Whatnot
- Host our live shows on a regular weekly schedule: auctions, buy-it-now drops, and giveaways
- Present every device clearly and honestly: model, storage, condition grade, battery health, what's included
- Keep the chat moving: answer questions in real time, recognize regulars, and build an audience that comes back
- Prep each show with our inventory team (pick, stage, and list the devices) and hand off sold items for shipping
- Review every show afterward: what sold, what didn't, what buyers asked for, and use it to plan the next one
Video content for TikTok and Instagram
- Plan, shoot, edit, and post short-form video 5 days a week
- Turn what happens in our warehouse into content: bulk-lot unboxings, testing and grading, before-and-after refurbs, order packing, price breakdowns, device comparisons, and clips from the live shows
- Write the hooks and captions, follow what's trending, and adapt it to our products
- Reply to comments and DMs and bring followers into the live shows
- Track what performs (views, followers, sales) and do more of what works
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Comfortable and natural on camera, with the energy to carry a long live show
- Able to shoot and edit short-form video on your own (CapCut or similar)
- A sales instinct: you like closing
- Reliable and organized: shows start on time and videos go out on schedule
- Interested in phones and tech, and quick to learn specs. We'll train you on our devices and grading
- Clear, confident spoken English
- Able to work on-site in Sunset Park, Brooklyn
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Nice to have
- Experience hosting on Whatnot, TikTok Shop, or another live-selling platform
- An account or portfolio of short-form videos you've made
- Experience selling or repairing phones or electronics

SCHEDULE
Full-time, on-site, 5 days a week, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
