About us: We're Farm To People: a farmer's market delivery service that offers New Yorkers a wide curation of products by local farmers and makers! Our mission is to reimagine the food system by supporting small farmers and producers, all while providing customers an unmatched grocery experience.
Overview: Farm to People packs 9,000+ orders across three daily shifts, seven days a week. The Restock & Prepick Supervisor owns overnight operations for batch picking and inventory replenishment across our refrigerated, frozen, and grocery departments. This is a hands-on leadership role where you're on the floor driving throughput, managing your team, and keeping inventory flowing to our day-shift fulfillment. You'll execute batch picks that set up our pickers for speed and accuracy, maintain frozen and cold chain integrity, and own the metrics that matter: labor rate, pick accuracy, and inventory health.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
People
• Build and hold your team accountable. Your team should execute the overnight plan without you standing over them. You own their development and the standards they hold themselves to.
• Manage performance directly: coaching, documentation, and follow-through on attendance, productivity, and safety.
• Set the tone on the overnight shift. Run huddles, keep energy and focus through long production nights, and give recognition where it's earned. Lead from the floor.
• Hire and develop the team that runs batch picking and restocking. You know where gaps are and proactively close them.
Batch Picking & Replenishment
• Own batch pick execution. You organize picks by department (frozen, refrigerated, grocery) to maximize picker efficiency, accuracy, and throughput. When volume spikes or staffing is tight, the batch pick logic holds.
• Own accuracy at the pick. Items get pulled before they reach the packer, and pick accuracy doesn't slip when you're short-staffed or running fast.
• Live in error and labor reporting. Identify root causes and solutions.
• Manage the overnight replenishment. Keep frozen, refrigerated, and grocery inventory organized, rotated (FIFO), and ready for the next shift's picks. Coordinate with Receiving and Inbound to know what's coming and what's available.
• Escalate early. When production is tracking behind or you see a supply problem forming, we hear the recovery plan and what you need, not the miss after the fact.
Inventory & Quality
• Own inventory accuracy on your shift. Cycle count discrepancies, expired or damaged goods, and inventory organization fall on you. You know the state of your stock.
• Maintain cold chain integrity. You manage the flow and temperature of frozen and refrigerated items. You know when product should be pulled and when rotation is out of standard.
• Coordinate with Inbound and Procurement. You flag supply risks, communicate inventory needs for tomorrow's picks, and keep the flow organized so day shift never runs short.
Systems & Planning
• Build and execute the overnight pick plan. You forecast batch volumes, organize the sequence of picks by department, and adjust staffing and pacing against incoming volume.
• Manage labor hours against targets. You control overtime through planning and pace, not by adding hours.
• Own the overnight metrics: labor rate, pick accuracy, cycle count variance, cold chain compliance. When the numbers move, you can say why.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
• 3+ years leading a team in a warehouse, fulfillment, or fast-paced operating environment. You've run a shift or a department and owned the outcomes.
• Strong batch picking or picking operations experience. You understand the mechanics of pick efficiency, slotting, and how to organize picks for speed and accuracy.
• Comfortable in frozen and refrigerated environments (34–40°F) and on your feet for a full shift. This is a hands-on role—you're picking and restocking alongside your team.
• Systems-minded. You build the standard, train it, and hold it. You're comfortable with WMS, labor data, and picking metrics; you make decisions from them.
• Direct and action-oriented. You give hard feedback and follow up without flinching. When things go wrong, your instinct is what you'd change, not what got in the way.
• Owns outcomes. When the shift misses, you're already thinking about what to adjust tomorrow.
• Thrives at pace. High volume, short staffing, and back-to-back batches don't rattle you—this is the work.
• Detail-oriented. You notice the thing that's off (a misslot, a temperature alarm, inventory creep) before it becomes a problem.
• Strong communicator who can coordinate across Inbound, Picking, and day-shift leadership to keep the operation seamless.
