ABOUT:
This 10-week course is the perfect class for adults (21+) at the beginner or intermediate level.
Together with a class of no more than 12 students, this one-hour weekly class is designed to be a safe place to discover the joy of singing through a variety of folk, popular, and jazz songs while learning foundations of breath support, vocal harmony, rhythm, and reading music.
WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?
Ideal for the student, who:
-- Always wanted to learn, but has felt dissuaded by anxiety or nervousness around singing.
-- Seeks to nourish a hobby in a fun and relaxed setting.
-- Has had no voice training and considers themselves a “complete beginner” OR has some singing training, but seeks to reconnect with their practice after time away.

Group classes will take place at Complete Music Studios in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.

GROUP CLASS RATES (I also offer financial aid, see below)
$70 per hour class
$700 for the 10-week class
* Class fee includes a free binder and all print-outs/sheet music

I offer two financial aid scholarships every semester, which allows for a further reduced lesson fee. Please let me know if you’d like to be considered for this. I try to make lessons accessible to everyone who would like to learn.
ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Alex. I’m a vocalist and composer ready to help you nurture a passion for singing! I believe my job as a teacher is to help support you in technical and artistic growth as a vocalist, no matter whether you're a seasoned performer or a total beginner. I prioritize vocal technique and vocal health while guiding development of organic creativity and harmony between mind and body.
In my 10+ years experience as a vocal instructor, I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of students in both private and group music lessons, Teaching Artist residencies, and university workshops. Whether it's exploring aspects of breath, rhythm or registration, challenging my students to dig into the storytelling of a song, or working to prepare for a performance or an audition, I love watching faces light up when discoveries are made about what is possible. I prize self-expression and every student's unique journey to explore their potential. I understand that singing is (very!) vulnerable — it’s an ancient and ancestral craft, precious to us as humans. I lead with encouragement and empathy.
