OPEN CALL Friday 9/11, 3:30–5 PM & Saturday 9/12, 3:30–5 PM
737 Fulton St, Brooklyn NY — at Fritz Cocktail Bar
Full-Time • 5 Shifts per Week • Around $80,000/Year Including Tips
Black Forest Brooklyn is looking for an experienced bartender who is ready to take the next step into a FOH leadership role.
Bartending experience is required. This cannot be your first bartending job. Our Captains are fully cross-trained FOH professionals who can work behind the bar or on the floor depending on the needs of the shift.
This is a tipped leadership position, not a traditional management position. Captains work full service shifts as bartenders or servers, with their own bar or section, while also taking on important shift-lead responsibilities and helping maintain accountability and standards across the FOH team.
Captains receive a higher tip share, a consistent five-shift schedule, and strong earning potential — around $80,000/year including tips.
We’re staffing up as we head into one of our busiest times of year, with Oktoberfest, fall sports, private events, and the holiday season ahead. This is a long-term position for someone who wants to work hard, take on real responsibility, earn well, and grow with Black Forest Hospitality.
Please attend the open call only if you have at least 2 years of full-service restaurant experience, including strong bartending experience.
THE ROLE
As FOH Captain, you’ll work a full service position throughout your shift. Depending on the schedule, that may mean working behind the bar or taking a section on the floor. Captains need to be comfortable and capable in all FOH service positions.
At the same time, you’ll help lead the shift.
You’ll run pre-shift meetings, communicate specials, 86s, events, and service priorities, make sure the team is prepared for service, and follow up on opening and closing checklists and side work.
During service, you’ll help maintain standards, address issues as they arise, and keep the team organized and focused. You’ll also keep track of important shift issues — including lateness, incomplete duties, guest or staff issues, and anything management needs to follow up on — and communicate them through a daily Captain report.
This is a hands-on leadership role. Captains don't stand back and supervise while everyone else works. You’ll be making drinks, serving guests, running food, clearing tables, and working alongside the team while also providing leadership and accountability.
