About King David Tacos

Founded in Brooklyn in 2016, King David Tacos is a woman-owned CPG / Hospitality hybrid food company, focused on making a better on-the-go breakfast. Our breakfast tacos are critically-acclaimed, and we have established the breakfast taco market in New York. We operate out of our 11,000 square foot headquarters and production facility in Prospect Heights. We are a vertically-integrated business, and we sell our breakfast tacos across Retail (brick & mortar, mobile, catering) and Wholesale (foodservice) channels.

Job Overview

KDT Drivers are reliable, safety-focused team members responsible for transporting wholesale, catering, and retail orders throughout NYC and New Jersey, as well as moving KDT carts and equipment to events and retail locations. Drivers are expected to provide excellent customer service and take pride in keeping company vehicles and equipment safe and well-maintained.

Compensation

• Hourly: Starting base wage $22, with an average $6-8 extra per hour in tips
  • Tips from Catering deliveries
  • Company vehicle provided
• Additional flat rate available for cart transportation, if qualified

Schedule Expectations

• 4-5 Days a Week, 4 to 8 hours per shift; 25-35 hours per week
• Weekend and early morning availability required: 
• Daily start time: 5:30AM 
• Cart transportation (if qualified) start time: 5:00AM
• This schedule may fluctuate based on business needs

Driver Responsibilities

• Safely operate KDT vehicles and trailers while following all traffic laws and safety protocols
• Complete daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety issues promptly
• Load, secure, transport, and deliver food orders accurately and on time
• Follow assigned routes and delivery schedules, including Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and New Jersey
• Review daily dispatch instructions and maintain basic delivery and vehicle records
• Provide friendly, professional service to customers and delivery partners
• Safely handle food and maintain proper temperatures during transport
• Safely attach/detach and maneuver trailers and mobile food carts
• Transport, load, and unload carts, equipment, and event rentals as needed
• Assist with basic vehicle/cart maintenance, including fueling, charging, tire checks, and water refills
• Use KDT technology, including Optimoroute, Nauto and company phones, as required
• Communicate with the Manager on Duty throughout the shift when not driving
• Report delays, damaged goods, incomplete orders, or other delivery issues promptly
• Assist the Operations team with other tasks as needed

Requirements

• 1 year of experience as a Driver (catering or foodservice delivery experience a plus)
• Ability to communicate effectively in English or with translation support as needed
• Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple tasks at once
• Excellent reliability and timeliness
• Safe, responsible, and defensive driving habits and style
• Knowledge of Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens driving conditions and directions

Qualifications

• Valid driver license and clean driving record (verified by MVR annually, must be approved by insurance)
• Confident operating a vehicle with a trailer (including backing up in reverse)
• Able to lift up to 50–70 lbs and maneuver wheeled carts
• Strong attention to detail and a positive, can-do attitude
• Comfortable working in a team-based setting and contributing to a collaborative atmosphere
• Consistently professional in behavior, appearance, and interactions
