I've used this bag for many trips/flights and have been able to stow it overhead in planes easily because of its soft sides. It has great flexibility because of its maximum capacity of 65L, but it also has external compression straps for smaller volume. The shoulder and hips straps are strong and comfortable. It is 15 years old but still in great shape. I'm giving it up because I've switch to a smaller bag (also Osprey), which is a stellar brand for quality, aesthetic, ergonomics, and they have the "Almighty Guarantee".
