The usb port came loose off the welded contacts and came apart while trying to fix it. So you can't use USB to power the unit or transmit MIDI data but the 5-pin ports are fine and I used it with a midi-to-usb adapter and battery power is good.
Just put in 6 fresh AA batteries and works perfectly if you don't mind the 5-pin port and battery power.
An electronics shop can solder a new port (or yourself if you know how to do it). Just too much work for me.
