Offered for sale is an antique Rollman Mfg. Co. (Mount Joy, PA) Cherry Pitter. The cherry pitter mounts to a bench or table using the key handled tightener. The hopper dish slopes towards the hole to help the cherries slide to the plunger hole. The pitter works by pushing the plunger through the cherry. There is a great aged tinned finish over the cherry pitter which has raised highly readable lettering on the cast metal body. From internet research, this was patented in 1901 and the Rollman Mfg. Company changed its name to Universal in 1909 which sets the age range for this vintage pitter. Also, the top of the plunger handle is marked, "Rollman Cherry Seeder Pat. Nov. 5, 01" and the 01 is for 1901. The cherry pitter measures 9" above the table and 13" over-all-length. The plunger still works and springs back to position.
