The sandstone has split off into fragments inside the case and is no longer glued in place.
Vintage educational rock and mineral specimen set produced for the Field Museum. This display case contains 21 labeled rock samples from the three main geological groups: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic.
Specimens include examples such as basalt, pumice, gypsum, sandstone, flint, gneiss, slate, granite, obsidian, conglomerate, limestone, coal, quartzite, and mica-schist. Each specimen is mounted and labeled in a clear protective case.
The back of the case includes an educational description which explains the three rock classifications and how they form. It is a great piece for students, collectors, classrooms, or geology enthusiasts.
