Responsibilities:
•Safely operate a heavy or tractor-trailer truck
•Safely operate tractor-trailer truck with a capacity of at least 25,000 - 48,000 pounds per gross vehicle weight dependent on license class.
•Inspect truck before and after trip
•Review and comprehend bill of lading delivery sheets, plan routes, and meet delivery schedules.
•Responsible for monitoring loading to ensure cargo is secured and unloading of products, report improper loading of cargo to management.
•Ensure complete quantities on product orders are picked up and or delivered as required.
•Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
•Document and log work/rest periods and retain all expense receipts
•Comply with truck driving safety rules and regulations (size, weight, route, and designation, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
•Responsible for reporting defects, accidents and or violations to supervisor.
•Submit all documentation related to deliveries, receipts, mechanical problems etc.
•Must be able to sit (driving) for long periods of time and climb onto trailers to secure loads, tie/untie product, etc.
•Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 30 minutes.
•Ability to make repetitive movements including, but not limited to, sitting bending or squatting.
Qualifications:
•Class A CDL
•Previous experience in steel transportation
•Clean MVR for 2 years
•Pass a DOT physical
•Verifiable experience
•Ability to pass pre-employment drug test
•Must work well with customers
•Strong work ethic
•Ability to follow written and oral instructions
•Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules and regulation policies and/or procedures
•Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
