Here is a wonderful (though rough) early example of Idaho’s famous PULASKI axe. Some may call it pitted and rusty, I call it character. Anyway, it is marked “M.W.H. Co.” for Marshall Wells Hardware Company of Duluth. I found a source which says the company dropped the “H” in 1915 from its stamps, so this rascal is over 100 years old and only a few years after the "Big Burn" of 1910. It is marked “ZENITH” which was the company’s top-of-the-line products. I am assuming the “P” is for PULASKI. Comes with an old handle (in terrible shape) which may or may not be original. (Cat not included – she’s my assistant).
