Most importantly to start, it has the most smooth and reliable engine / transmission combination offered up until 2019.
Backstory:
In 2013, a very small percentage of builds (under 5%) had the newer upgraded 8-speed ZF TorqueFlite 8 paired with the 5.7L HEMI V8.
What's the reason?
They introduced this new smoother, more efficient, and most importantly more reliable transmission in 2013 with the Pentastar V6 engine to test it in masses on the cheaper trucks as a a replacement option for the previous 5 / 6 speed options that were notoriously known as the weakest link of these trucks.
In approx 5% of the production (due to parts shortages and cost, they tested this pairing on a handful of the highest end ultra-reliable 5.7 Hemi. The same paring that's in my brand new 2026 Laramie I ordered exactly like this truck. So it clearly was the answer :)
It also has the same dash / gauge cluster as my friends 2022 Ram 1500 work truck.
Most of these trucks have the wrong motor or transmission, or both..
Either the Pentastar V6 or underpowered less reliable 4.7 HEMI option with the slush-box garbage 6 speed.
Options that make it so special:
The Ram Boxes!! (Single best option I've ever had on a truck.) This package comes with the cargo management system which is amazing.. They double as coolers with drain plugs that can be easily hosed out! :)
Easy outside access to lockable storage for tools, fishing / hiking gear, survival equipment, heck even our camping chairs stay in there for random event seating! It's great for me because I'm 5'8 and reaching in the bed for stuff that slides all over is awful.
Additional Luxury Options Include:
Upgraded 8.4 Uconnect Touchscreen, Heated and Cooled Leather Seats, Power Moonroof, Trailer Brake Controller, etc
It also has dual floor storage inside the rear floor on both sides! A TON of hidden storage.
As far as I've found, it has literally everything possible for this year and model.
I found this gorgeous Ram after almost 6 months of searching, and drove 9 hours and two states to Seattle the day it came available :)
I wanted to cleanest truck, loaded with everything possible that I could add the Night Edition Package look to.
Modern LED Projector Headlights, Upgraded Raptor Style Lighted Grill, Black 20" Powder Coated Sport Wheels, Black Side Steps, Modern Ram LED Taillights, LED 3rd Brake Light, Black Badging (Replaced all chrome), Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover, Full Ceramic UV Blocking Tint including the Moonroof / not the cheap cosmetic tint that lets heat in.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton here, an will continue to update with additional details :)
It's had full synthetic oil changes every 5k miles at Larry Miller Dodge this last 4 years since I've purchased it.
No smoking or pets.
The truck is truly incredibly and it's bittersweet to see her leaving us :)
