This Vintage Guild F-48 is a rare model, only made in 1972 - 1975 in Westerly, Rhode Island. It is a jumbo size body Mahogany back and sides with a spruce top and Rosewood fretboard and bridge. Player’s grade, one owner since new. Normal minor lacquer cracks on top, sides, and back – typical for its age. Good condition overall. Three minor dings on top have been dropped-filled with nitro lacquer.
Bridge has been shaved down by 1/8” and saddle only shows about 1/16” above bridge. Straightedge test hits the bridge about 1/16” below the current top edge, about 1/8” above base of bridge. Plays fine right now but would benefit from a neck reset at some point. Cosmetically it looks quite good for its age, but has enough issues to not be considered as collector grade. Wonderful sound from fifty-four-year-old wood.
OHSC in good condition (missing one hasp on a latch) but the case is otherwise in VGC considering its age.
The neck has a comfortable not too thick profile between C and soft V shape that flattens out into more of a D as it goes up.
