Attractive solid-wood occasional table with a dark brown finish and substantial traditional construction. The table measures approximately 31 inches wide by 29 inches high by 18 inches deep, making it a useful size for an entryway, hallway, living room or beside a sofa. The rectangular top has clipped/chamfered corners and a molded edge, with attractive natural grain and a pleasantly aged surface showing light wear consistent with use. The table is solid and stable, and appears to have been handmade between 1920 and 1930.

The most distinctive feature is the barley-twist turned legs, a traditional furniture form associated with the Jacobean style (associated with the reign of James I of England, 1603–1625) and later Jacobean Revival furniture. The legs are joined by shaped perimeter stretchers, including a decorative serpentine/wavy front stretcher with a small central carved detail, giving the base both strength and visual interest. Beneath the top is a shaped/scalloped apron with understated decorative detailing. A handsome, compact piece with considerably more character than a modern mass-market side table.

Condition: Good solid condition with normal surface marks, small scratches and age-related wear visible in the photographs. No structural looseness.
