A stunning hand-pressed yarn painting (nierika) by a Huichol (Wixárika) artisan from Colonia Zitakua, Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico. The back of the board includes a handwritten explanation in the artist’s own words, describing how this work depicts the sacred peyote ceremony — the sun, the magic feathers, the sacred jícaras (gourds), candles, and the blood of the deer — all to honor family, uphold the traditions of the Huichol people, and fulfill sacred vows. The ceremonial objects depicted will later be offered at sacred sites. A truly rare piece with documented provenance and spiritual context directly from the maker.
