Primary Functions & Responsibilities
The Construction Laborer is an important member of the Wellman & Zuck field team, working under the direction of the Superintendent, Foreman, and other project leadership. This position supports all phases of construction through material handling, site logistics, general construction activities, and assistance to skilled trades. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, willing to learn, and interested in developing their construction skills while contributing to a professional and productive jobsite.
• Perform general construction labor including material handling, site cleanup, demolition, excavation, loading and unloading materials, and assisting skilled trades as directed.
• Assist carpenters, foremen, superintendents, and other field personnel with daily construction activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite, including removal of debris and proper storage of tools and materials.
• Load, unload, move, stage, and distribute construction materials and equipment throughout the project site.
• Assist with concrete work, framing, temporary protection, site preparation, and other general construction tasks as needed.
• Assist with basic layout, measuring, cutting, and installation activities as directed.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, aerial lifts, compact equipment, and other construction equipment when properly trained, qualified, and authorized.
• Assist with installation and removal of temporary barriers, fencing, signage, protection, and other jobsite safety measures.
• Follow project plans, instructions, and established construction procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or potential jobsite hazards and promptly report them to the Superintendent or Foreman.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, project-specific safety plans, and applicable state and local regulations.
• Properly use and maintain required personal protective equipment in accordance with company policy and task-specific requirements.
• Work cooperatively with Wellman & Zuck employees, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, clients, and other project partners.
• Assist with receiving, verifying, staging, and distributing material deliveries when requested.
• Protect completed work and existing building conditions from damage during construction.
• Perform other construction-related duties as assigned based on project needs.

• Ability to adapt to changing project conditions, schedules, priorities, and work assignments.
• Basic understanding of construction terminology and practices preferred but not required.
• Previous commercial construction experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
The physical requirements described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry construction materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds and heavier items with assistance.
• Ability to safely climb ladders and stairs and work at varying elevations when properly protected.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
• Ability to work around construction equipment, noise, dust, and other conditions typical of an active construction site.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, gloves, hearing protection, and appropriate footwear.
• Ability to work a typical construction workday and overtime as project conditions require.
• Ability to reliably report to assigned project locations throughout Wellman & Zuck's service area.
