We are Rainshadow Permaculture, a local ecological landscaping company specializing in natural and holistic pruning during the winter months.
PRUNING IS $60-$80/HR - projects usually take 1-14 days depending on number of trees, size and pruning needs
We primarily specialize in **fruit trees and orchards**, including:
* Fruit tree pruning
* Orchard pruning and restoration
* Young tree training and structural pruning
* Renovation of overgrown fruit trees
* Ornamental trees and shrubs
* Japanese maples and other specimen trees
* Disbursal of wood chip mulch, consultation for holistic spring and summer land scare practices
Our pruning is strongly influenced by **Japanese pruning methods**, emphasizing the natural structure and character of the tree rather than simply cutting it back. However the specific pruning approach and your goals for the tree can be discussed during the initial consultation.
We work primarily with **small to medium-sized trees that can be safely accessed from the ground or with an orchard ladder.** We do not take on large-tree removals, climbing work, high-canopy pruning, or projects requiring heavy arborist equipment.
Whenever practical, we encourage keeping pruning material on-site by chipping branches and returning the wood chips beneath trees or to garden areas as mulch. Haul-away can also be arranged.
**PRICING & BOOKING**
Initial consultations/site visits are **free**. We’ll look at the trees, discuss your goals and pruning approach, assess access and cleanup needs, and provide a quote before scheduling the work.
Pruning typically ranges from **$60–$80/hour**, depending on the complexity of the project. Projects requiring additional crew are quoted accordingly.
Pruning appointments are available **January through March**, with exact scheduling dependent on weather and site conditions. Winter pruning spots are limited, so please reach out early to get on the schedule.
