Up for sale is an eye-catching, unusual Gretsch G3373 Grand Concert acoustic guitar from Gretsch’s excellent Historic Series. Not often seen, this particular short-run model boasts of a distinct personality and excellent build quality from the renowned Peerless Factory in Korea. As for the unique, punchy tone, all-maple is all-maple.
The guitar was professionally fitted with a new compensated bone saddle significantly improving the instrument's sustain, note clarity, and intonation compared to the original factory plastic piece. The new saddle is only fitted, not cut. This was done purposefully to let the new owner decide on the action setup. I find it quite playable right where it is.
The guitar is structured tight as a drum with a straight neck and minimal wear (see images). Structurally excellent, it shows normal, light cosmetic surface noise from honest use. Tuners are tight and intonation is good. The guitar is in Good Condition and ready to play out of the case.
Play is easy and straight forward. The bound fretboard is fast. Tone is maple bright, but dialed back a bit from the purposeful laminate construction, which is also terrific for feedback rejection. With cutaway, the guitar would make a terrific stage and recording guitar given it's punch, sass, and ability to cut through a live or recorded mix. On stage its convenient size and Gretsch showy looks would make an excellent impact. There's an endpin jack showing that it was once used for such purpose, but other electronics have been removed.
On the Gretsch Design Heritage:
The G3373 from the Historic Series is a fascinating hybrid design. The physical 15-inch Grand Concert body shape is a direct callback to the compact dimensions and sweet mid-range punch of the vintage 1950s Gretsch Model 6003 acoustic. Gretsch beautifully paired this traditional flat-top design with the iconic Neo-Classical pearloid "thumbnail" offset fretboard markers lifted straight from the legendary 1958 Chet Atkins 6120 and White Falcon, giving this acoustic an unmistakable, upscale rockabilly pedigree.
Comes complete with a fitted, arched hard shell case (a plus, as cases for these specific 15" concert bodies can be difficult to find). The fit here is perfect (see image).
