The disc is 22” across when opened and a compact 9 ½” when the disc is folded inside its cover. The fourth photo shows its current retail price from a very well-respected large retailer in New York city.
There are five surfaces are available : opaque white, black, gold, silver and translucent white. Surfaces are changed by slipping the removable sleeve over the base using the desired side of the colored cover.
It is especially useful not just for coloring the light but it also serves as a “bouncing mirror “ { I just made up that term ! } which allows the photographer to put light in or on a space where the ambient light may not be bright enough. That is done by using the reflecting sides of this piece to ‘bounce’ extra light into a dark corner or on the dark side of a person’s face if the available light is all coming from one side of the subject.
So many applications here ! It softens harsh shadows and helps control too much contrast. The gold surface can warm skin tones, the translucent side functions as a softbox to even out light, and the silver side cools things down. The black side can even ‘absorb’ some overly bright light or completely shade an object of your photograph.
White: Provides a soft, natural, and color-neutral bounce. It is perfect for close-up portraits because it doesn't cause the subject to squint.
Silver: Offers the highest reflectivity. It is ideal for overpowering the sun in backlit scenarios or casting light over longer distances.
Gold: Bounces a warm, sunset-like tone onto the subject. It is excellent for complementing warm skin tones or adding dynamic color during overcast days.
Black: Used as a flag or to create "negative fill". It absorbs stray light (such as light bouncing off a white wall), increasing contrast and adding dramatic shadows.
It has its own carrying case. Simply use the “twisty curly” method [ my own descriptive term again ! ] to store it away between uses.
