The time for transplanting raspberry plants for a great yield next year is now. Many transplant in the early spring, and that is also a great time, but if you're looking to next summer for some delicious raspberries get the job done now. These plants produce two crops a year. The first yield is in July for about 3 weeks and then the larger crop is in August until the first hard frost. If you have not tried a golden raspberry you will find them deliciously sweet and juicy, not as seedy as the red. For eating I almost always hear, "Wow, these are great! I've never had a yellow raspberry. These are so good!" My family almost always eats the yellows before the red. When it comes to making a pie or jelly, I prefer the reds. They have a deeper raspberry flavor and are a little more tart. Aesthetically, a red filling is just more appealing than a yellow filling to me, same is true of a jam or jelly, but I have made Hot Pepper jam with yellow raspberries and green or red peppers and that is appealing to the eye.
