"Doug put the foundation on many of our best youth horses. I watched him compete and beat some of the best horsemen in the industry. I recommend him without hesitation." — Ellie Arndt.
Recommendation from Tawny Lathrop: "I have known Doug for many years. He is an extremely talented, caring horseman, trainer, and teacher. He has taken many ordinary horses and turned them into champions. He has trained overseas and throughout the Northwest and is now located in Idaho. He can start horses and develop them in many disciplines, from Western Pleasure to Reining and Working Cow Horse. I highly recommend him."

BAKER CITY, OREGON — A SMALL OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN FROM ME
I am temporarily laying over in Baker City, Oregon, and I'm offering a limited opportunity for people in Baker City and the surrounding area to learn directly from me while I'm here.
I grew up with master horsemen from the age of five. I learned from the legends of the horse industry and combined those programs into my own unique system. By the time I was 16, I had started more than 100 horses.
MY HORSEMANSHIP ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE:
Open World Champion Rider • International Horse Trainer • 50+ years of horse training and horsemanship • Trained National Champions • Trained World Champions • World Record winning horses • Horses in the Book of Legends • Olympic Coach • Olympic Long List • #2 in AQHA history for performance point earning • 12-time National or World Reserve Champion • The youngest National World Champion horse ever • Trained horses across Arabian, Quarter Horse, Paint, Appaloosa and Morgan breeds • 8 of the 15 riders featured on CBS's The Run for a Million learned my program directly from me.
These are only a small part of what I have spent my life doing.
MY PROGRAM
Reining • Working Cow Horse • Cutting • Ranch Riding • Western Pleasure • Trail • Under Saddle • Colt Starting • Problem Horses • Youth and Amateur Riders • Performance Horses
Different events. The foundation is the same.
I teach the mechanics of horsemanship: balance, collection, softness, steering, stops, turns, straightness, communication and developing a willing horse and rider who can work together.
I am looking for horses and riders who want to learn.
I am also looking for a barn or facility to train out of, nationally or internationally, where I can teach, train, develop horses and riders and eventually compete at the world's largest events.
I am also looking for a temporary dry-camping place for my motorhome while I am laying over in Baker City. I am willing to pay a little for a safe place.
If you need lessons, have a horse that needs training, know someone who needs help, have a place for my motorhome, or know of a facility looking for a trainer, please contact me.
GIVE ME A HORSE. GIVE ME A RIDER. GIVE ME A CHANCE.
