Here's where I plug in: I implement an audit system that repairs miscategorized and outdated financial records, transitioning into clean, reliable reports and tax-ready baselines.
Chart of Accounts Review: I delete/inactivate duplicate accounts/redundant names or/and reassign items under parent accounts. I investigate and empty out temporary accounts like Uncategorized Income/Expenses, Opening Balance Equity, and Undeposited Funds.
Bank Feed/Transaction List: I correctly categorize unreviewed transactions.
Reconciliation and Close: I find gaps needing immediate closure by comparing bank, credit card, and loan accounts to monthly statements.
Re-categorizing Expenses: I move personal expenses out of business account, including fixing any loan principals and interest, and clearing owner draws.
Aging Reports, Diagnostic Review and Final Reports: I look through AR and AP reports to clear out dead invoices or credits skewing your true revenue. I run Balance sheets and P&L statements to find which periods are broken, comparing last year's numbers to the tax return.
