Private Sewing Lessons with a Fashion Designer | I Come to You!
Learn to sew. Develop your eye. Make things that are entirely your own.
Sewing is more than knowing how to use a machine or follow a pattern. It’s the ability to take an idea, experiment with it, and turn it into something you can actually wear.
I’m Erin, an Austin-based fashion designer, artist, and sewing educator. I’ve been making my own clothes for over 30 years and design and construct original runway collections under my label, Ophelia Lorrain.
I offer private, in-home sewing lessons for beginners and intermediate sewists who want to develop their technical skills while exploring their own creativity.
What we can work on:
* Learning to use your sewing machine and mastering essential techniques
* Making your own clothes from commercial patterns
* Understanding fabrics, fit, proportion, and garment construction
* Altering and reimagining clothing you already own
* Experimenting with design details, silhouettes, and unconventional materials
* Developing original ideas and learning how to execute them
* Building the skills to work more independently and creatively
My Approach
I don’t believe sewing should be limited to following instructions and making things exactly as pictured.
I want to teach you how to look at clothing like a designer: to understand how it’s made, recognize what works and what doesn’t, and figure out how to change it.
We’ll develop your technical abilities, but we’ll also work on your creative judgment. When should you follow the rules? When should you break them? How do you take something ordinary and make it interesting?
Whether you want to sew your first garment, transform your thrift store finds, or start developing your own designs, lessons are tailored to your experience, interests, and goals.
