These are very nice speakers within their obvious size limitations, with built in mounting points if you want to attach them to any kind of stand. It’s not necessary, though; they work great as small bookshelf speakers. (Pretty much all Advent gear is both excellent and reasonably priced; Henry Kloss was a good influence.)

And they *are* small -- which makes them easy to place, and flexible. Also fairly rugged (some kind of polycarbonate, aka “plastic” shell). You could probably use them outdoors in any reasonably sheltered location, like a covered porch, without much worry.

They pair well with a subwoofer, but for near-field listening (like at your desk, which is a nice use), you may not feel much deprived. I don’t, anyhow.
