1971 BMW airhead.
Fully restored + improvements.
Restoration includes full mechanical restoration of all components. Frame and all other black metal pieces have been powder coated. Tank and fenders painted and pinstriped.
Improvements include overhauled front suspension with Progressive springs. Overhauled, cleaned and polished Koni shocks. Nicasil 800cc cylinders with new piston rings. Overhauled heads that are dual-plugged and have all new valves, guides, springs and seats. Wedgetail electronic ignition with control module specific for dual-plugged engine. Upgraded charging system. Wheels have been cleaned, polished and relaced with Buchanan's stainless steel spokes/nipples. New wiring harness. Fully reconditioned 5-speed transmission from a 1978 model airhead. New instrument cluster. New control cables and brake shoes.
No doubt I am leaving/forgetting a few details.
For instance — the $200 price. Of course that is a joke. You'd have to add a couple zeros to get in to a realistic price range for a machine like this. Like I said, this was a complete restoration plus improvements — better than when it rolled off the showroom floor over 50 years ago. If you were to take any /5 motorcycle to Bob's or Max's they would charge easily 30K for a restoration to this level, and that would not even include the original price of the motorcycle.
Thanks for looking.
