Evolve Youth Services is helping a local family recruit and interview a dependable, energetic support aide for their 11-year-old son.
Schedule: Three Sundays per month, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Starting pay: $25/hour
Starting date: September 20, 2026
Evolve Youth Services has supported this client for the past three years. As our services with the family come to an end, we are helping identify and train someone who can provide continued support.
The client has developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges. He is active, inquisitive, and loves sports, fishing, yardwork, nature, and music—especially Green Day and Michael Jackson.
The position includes:
Supporting the client during Sunday school for approximately 30–45 minutes
Spending one-on-one time with him in the community afterward
Participating in activities such as sports, fishing, exploring nature, and working outside
Serving as a positive and encouraging mentor
Sunday school takes place at a lovely local church that emphasizes equality and the awareness, inclusion, and acceptance of marginalized communities. The congregation knows the client well and is understanding of his challenges, accepting of who he is, and supportive of his continued growth.
Our team has developed an effective system for supporting the client during Sunday school using principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA). Evolve Youth Services will train the selected candidate to implement this system consistently.
The Sunday-school portion varies from week to week. Some Sundays can be challenging and require quick thinking, patience, and calm follow-through, while others go very smoothly.
Regardless of how Sunday school goes, the community portion of every shift offers plenty of opportunities for fun, active engagement and the development of a meaningful mentoring relationship.
The ideal candidate will be:
Physically capable of keeping up with an active child
Calm and steady under pressure
Able to think and respond quickly
Dependable, patient, and comfortable maintaining clear boundaries
Interested in developing a positive mentoring relationship
Respectful of the church’s inclusive and welcoming values
This may be an excellent opportunity for someone studying psychology, social work, education, child development, or a related field. It could also be a great fit for someone who enjoys working with children and prefers an active, dynamic environment. Relevant experience is helpful, but training on the client’s established support system will be provided.
Evolve Youth Services will vet and interview prospective candidates on behalf of the family. The selected individual will work directly for the family and will not be an employee of Evolve Youth Services.
To apply, please send a brief introduction describing your experience with children, your availability, and why you believe this position would be a good fit.
