FLOORING INSTALLATION APPRENTICE — WE’LL TEACH YOU THE TRADE
Floors by Angie is hiring a full-time Flooring Installation Apprentice.
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who wants to learn a skilled trade and isn’t afraid of physical work. You do not need to know how to install flooring yet — but you do need to show up, work hard, take direction and be willing to learn.
Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Some days may finish earlier or later depending on the job.
WHAT DOES AN AVERAGE DAY ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?
You’ll work alongside a Lead Flooring Installer and help take a project from demolition to a clean, finished floor.
That includes:
• Moving furniture and protecting the customer’s home before work begins
• Tearing out carpet, pad, LVP, laminate and other existing flooring
• Removing tack strip, staples, nails and other debris
• Carrying old flooring and construction debris to the dumpster/trailer
• Sweeping, scraping and vacuuming the subfloor
• Assisting with basic floor preparation
• Loading, unloading and carrying flooring, tools and supplies
• Installing pad/underlayment when required
• Opening and staging flooring for the Lead Installer
• Feeding plank to the installer efficiently
• Mixing material from multiple cartons
• Watching plank patterns and colors to prevent obvious repeats nearby
• Maintaining proper plank staggering
• Helping measure, mark and make cuts as you learn
• Assisting with transitions, trim, doors and finishing work
• Keeping the work area, tools and materials organized throughout the day
• Moving furniture back when the installation is complete
• Vacuuming, dusting and cleaning the finished project
• Leaving the customer’s home cleaner than we found it
And most importantly: you’ll be learning how to install flooring yourself.
Our goal isn’t to hire someone to carry garbage forever. If you work hard and learn the trade, we’ll teach you the skills necessary to grow into an installer.
THIS JOB IS PHYSICAL.
We want to be upfront about that.
You will regularly lift and carry flooring and furniture, kneel, bend, squat, climb stairs, work on your knees, perform demolition and spend most of the day moving.
Some days are dusty. Some days are sweaty. Some days involve carrying a lot of flooring up a lot of stairs.
If you’re looking for an easy job where you can stand around on your phone, this probably isn’t it.
If you like working with your hands, seeing what you accomplished at the end of the day and want to learn a trade you can build a career around, we want to talk to you.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
✓ Dependable — showing up every day and on time matters
✓ Comfortable with physical labor
✓ Positive attitude and willing to take direction
✓ Respectful inside customers’ homes
✓ Detail-oriented
✓ Able to work efficiently without sacrificing quality
✓ Willing to clean — cleanup is part of installation, not someone else’s job
✓ Interested in actually learning the flooring trade
✓ Able to work as part of a two-person installation team
Experience is welcome, but attitude, reliability and work ethic matter more.
Come learn a skilled trade, build something you can be proud of, and become part of the Floors by Angie installation team.
