Adolph Sehring (1933-2015) was a well known American realist painter whose works are held in private collections across the country. He was an immigrant from Russia who came to America in 1949 and enlisted in the US military during the Korean War. Notably, he painted the papal portrait of Pope John Paul II in 1979. Since his passing, original signed oils like this have become increasingly sought after by collectors of 20th-centruy Americana.
