Very good condition 1941 Martin D-18 in an original natural finish. This example maintains the original nitrocellulose finish under blacklight, with very little finish worn off over time. This example also maintains the original pickguard with no lifting. The original tuners have some wear from age, but hold tune well and spin as expected. The original frets have been played, but are not worn down. The original Martin logo on this example is in surprisingly good condition, and has not been sprayed over etc. The back and sides on this example are in very nice condition as well, with only one repaired crack on the lower bout to mention. The sides do not appear to have any cracks or major structural damage. The bridge is an ebony replacement that sounds fantastic, and the bridge plate has had a very old swap that also maintain the tone of this example beautifully. The bridge is not lifting. The original bridge pins are still on this example, as well as the saddle. There appears to be four repaired top cracks as picture, but they are all not moving and are structurally sound. This example also has a very small hairline heel repair that has finish work under a black light, but is also very structurally sound and was done well. As far as the tone of this guitar, it truly is exceptional. This wood has had plenty of time to open up, and it shows. There is a very warm, rounded low end, while the mid range pokes out beautifully when played with a pick. The high end information coming off this guitar is sweet and resonant, and projects very well. This one deserves to be played for another 85 years. Surprisingly, this example also comes with the original hard shell case as pictured, which latches properly, and obviously fits the guitar very well. SN dates to 1941 as you would expect.
