Valor is a 3-year-old, approximately 14.1hh (still growing and filling out) bay Mustang gelding, originally captured in Humboldt, Nevada, on 1/1/2024. He is smart, willing, athletic, and kind. He can be shy at first but has a sweet, puppy-dog personality once he trusts you. He has never shown a mean bone in his body.
Valor has a solid groundwork foundation and is:
* Respectful leading and haltering; allows me to walk up and halter him
* Ground driving, lunging, liberty basics
* Yields hindquarters/forequarters and gives to halter pressure
* Flexes both directions and picks up all four feet
* Self-loads/unloads from a trailer
* Desensitized to tarps, whips, fly spray, fly mask, and bathing
* Stands for vet, farrier, vaccines, saddling, and patience-pole tying using a tie ring (has not been hard tied)
* Has been saddled a few times with a Western saddle and has worn a bareback pad and surcingle
* Knows βpick me upβ trick; have sat on him bareback a few times, but he has not had any true rides yet
* Respects and has been exposed to electric fencing and panels
* Does well around dogs and cats
* Other people have worked with him under my supervision and he did great
Valor would be best suited for someone with the horsemanship knowledge, time, and dedication to continue his education and eventually start him under saddle once he finishes growing and fills out. He is the kind of Mustang who will become an incredible partner with endless opportunities once he trusts you. With continued training, I can absolutely see him becoming a wonderful youth/ family horse given his great temperament.
Current Health & Care:
* Sound; no lameness issues; beautiful mover
* Teeth floated 8/6; no wolf teeth
* Barefoot with strong Mustang hooves; last trim 7/21
* 6-way vaccine 6/21
* Dewormed 5/24
* Low-grade heart murmur that doesnβt affect him, normal pulse and rhythm
* 24/7 grass/alfalfa hay, hay cubes once daily, Vitamin E & Vermont Blend
* Never been fed grain
Valor was purchased sale-eligible, so no BLM transfer paperwork is required.
I purchased Valor to give him a solid foundation and set him up for success. He is being offered for sale through no fault of his own, I simply want to continue helping other Mustangs through the same process. He has been an incredible boy to work with and finding him the right home where he can thrive is very important to me.
